Bobby's Summer Gift To You!

Bobby Sherman - Flip - September 1971Did ya see Bobby Sherman's television special on ABC-TV on June 4th?

If you did you saw one of the highlights of Bobby's life. There have been a lot of exciting moments in Bobby's active life, but being asked to do his very own TV special was a real thrill.

A TV special means a lot to any performer. It means he's made it. For Bobby it means that his popularity is spreading from just his young fans to include some adults too. And it means that the TV executives have recognized him as a very valuable performer.

Bobby Sherman SpecialBut the special had some extra meaning for Bobby. It was a chance to do something special for his many fans who haven't seen much of him lately. Sure there was the Partridge Family episode he did as a pilot for his own series. And "Here Come The Brides" is still showing in reruns in a lot of towns.

But Bobby knows his fans like to see more of him than that and his special was a chance to do some different sort of things than he's done on TV before.

The show was taped in late May after several weeks of rehearsal. The guests on the show were the fantastic Fifth Dimension and the ever-wild Rip Taylor.

Bobby and the Fifth Dimension have something in common, besides the fact that they're all singers - their stage outfits are designed by the same fellow!

Bobby got a chance to sing with the Fifth too, something he's never done before. And he really had to be on his toes around Rip. Rip's such a funny man that you never know what he's going to do. A fair amount of the gags you saw on the show were not in the script!

The whole show was a sort of summer gift to you from Bobby, and these two pages of pictures will keep it fresh in your memory!

Bobby is now hard at work on his own series, which has finally got an official title - it's called "Getting Together" and you can see it on Saturday nights starting next September.

If you'd like to write to Bobby and tell him what you thought of the special or congratulate him on his new series, he'd be glad to hear from you. The address is P.O. Box 890, Radio City Station, New York, New York 10019.
